- Thales of Miletus (米利都的泰勒斯). The first person to seek rational explanations for observed facts, at a time when superstition was the prevailing worldview.
- Anaximander (阿纳克西曼德). Disc-shaped Earth covered by a spherical heaven.
- Anaximenes (阿纳克西美尼). Stars fixed on a transparent sphere which rotated around the Earth.
- Parmenides of Elea (埃利亚的巴门尼德). Earth is spherical & Moon received its light from the Sun.
- Pythagoras of Samos (萨摩斯的毕达哥拉斯). Phosphorus (启明) and Hesperus (长庚) were the same object, Venus. Musica universalis (音乐宇宙论).
